On 21–22 May 2026, DANSER partner River Administration of the Lower Danube (AFDJ) took part in European Maritime Day 2026 in Limassol, Cyprus.
European Maritime Day is the European Union’s flagship annual event for maritime affairs and the sustainable blue economy, bringing together policymakers, researchers, public authorities, industry representatives, port administrations and environmental organisations from across Europe.
AFDJ representatives Adina Airinei and Răzvan Staicu joined discussions on key priorities including sustainable navigation, marine and freshwater ecosystem protection, climate resilience, port innovation and the green transition of maritime transport.
Participation in the event provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives and good practices relevant to the Danube–Black Sea region, particularly around resilient transport corridors, cross-border cooperation, digitalisation and sustainable waterborne infrastructure.
The event also helped strengthen connections with European institutions, research organisations and maritime stakeholders, opening opportunities for future collaboration and reinforcing DANSER’s links with the wider European community working on sustainable water management, transport and environmental protection.
