On 16 September 2025, DANSER was represented at the IAG Regional Conference on Geomorphology in Timișoara, Romania.
Held under the theme “Geomorphology for Society: Challenges and Opportunities”, the conference explored the growing role of geomorphology in understanding the impacts of climate change and human pressures on the environment, while also stressing the importance of effective science communication.
Ronald Pöppl from BOKU University presented DANSER’s Upper Danume DEMO activities to the regional geomorphology research community, highlighting the project’s work on sustainable sediment management and river ecosystem restoration.
The presentation helped increase awareness of DANSER among researchers, encouraged further engagement and created opportunities for synergies with related scientific work on river systems, environmental change and geomorphological processes.
Participation in the conference also strengthened DANSER’s links with the regional research community and supported knowledge exchange around the challenges facing river basins under increasing climatic and human pressures.
